2008 August > A Taste Of Ancaster

Our first foray into the culinary qualities of Ancaster establishments took us to lunch at The Coach & Lantern British Pub at 384 Wilson St. East. Blink as you stroll along the sidewalk and you may just miss the iron-gated opening in the old stone wall, leading to a sheltered and intimate patio. Make your way through the large door at the opposite end of the patio and you step into an atmosphere likened to any small-town pub found along any cobblestone street of Great Britain. The upstairs banquet facility or 'Upper Coach' boasts a fireplace, flat-screen tv's, a stage and full A/V system and accommodates up to 65 guests with no charge for its use. In June of this year, owners Mark and Andrea Hodge refreshed their menu with 'prepared from scratch' pub favorites and plenty of comfort food. With thirteen different draft selections, including several imports, you are bound to find your flavor. Join them from Monday to Thursday between 3 pm and 6 pm for $4 domestic pints and bottles, house wine and well drinks. The Coach & Lantern offers live entertainment from Friday to Sunday evenings, music trivia on Wednesday evenings and Open Mic Night on Thursdays with Ryan Vivian. Check out their website for their full menu, complete event listings and much more at www.coachandlantern.ca. The Coach & Lantern British Pub can be reached at 905-304-PUBB (7822).
